Members Have Selected Four Ideas to be Funded in Round Three 2026
Round Three of the 2026 budget idea member poll has finished. This time four winning ideas will be funded by the TYPO3 Association.
On 8 July, we launched the third community budget process for 2026. The TYPO3 Association members were asked to vote on their favorites. As a result of 200 valid votes, the TYPO3 Association has granted budgets totaling €40,000 to four ideas.
A new initiative was organized during the Developers Days in Karlsruhe. All members who requested one were given a TYPO3 coin. This coin could be used to amplify one of the ideas in the round, giving the three most-voted ideas a percentage-based boost.

Summary of the Four Selected Ideas
Starting in Q4/2025, all funded ideas are seeking to align with the high-level objectives of the strategic goals for TYPO3 v14. With a brief explanation of their strategic impact, the following four Ideas clearly demonstrate how they contribute to the long-term vision of TYPO3.
Team Ideas
Implemented by Anja Leichsenring and Mentored by Lina Wolf (Budget: €10,000)
This project makes Extbase development easier, faster, and more predictable by turning recurring community questions and undocumented edge cases into clear, authoritative documentation. It focuses on practical areas such as translations, backend modules, AJAX, and headless applications, helping developers avoid outdated tutorials, trial and error, and repeated support requests. The result is a more accessible and sustainable TYPO3 ecosystem, where knowledge is shared openly, onboarding is easier, and developers can build confidently using supported patterns.
Support for FAIR Project in TER & Extension Manager
Implemented by Benni Mack (Budget: €7,500)
This project aims to make TYPO3’s extension ecosystem more decentralized, scalable, and resilient by introducing FAIR protocol support into TER. Instead of relying on a single central repository, TYPO3 will be able to discover and interact with extensions from multiple FAIR-compatible platforms. This opens the door to a more interconnected and autonomous ecosystem, reducing infrastructure dependencies while improving flexibility, stability, and security. In short: a more open, decentralized, and future-proof extension ecosystem for TYPO3.
Community Ideas
Visual Permissions – see and edit backend group permissions right where they apply

This project transforms TYPO3’s powerful but complex permission system into something visual, transparent, and easy to understand. Admins and integrators can see directly on each form which fields, tables, content types, page types, and languages a user group can access, including inherited permissions, and modify them without trial and error. By making permissions easier to understand and verify, the project improves security, reduces support effort, lowers the learning curve, and turns TYPO3’s granular access control into a real competitive advantage. In short: making TYPO3 permissions visible, understandable, and trustworthy.
From Search to Answers — Next Level for EXT:index, EXT:seal, & EXT:seal_ai

This project takes TYPO3’s search ecosystem from a solid foundation to a modern, scalable, AI-ready search platform. It introduces configuration-driven indexing, a migration path from Faceted Search (ke_search), improved WCAG 2.2 accessibility, and a cost-aware vectorization pipeline that only re-processes changed content. A lightweight MCP interface also makes TYPO3 search results directly accessible to AI agents and RAG systems. The result is faster search integration, better accessibility, lower AI costs, and a stronger foundation for TYPO3’s AI ecosystem. In short: making TYPO3 search smarter, more efficient, accessible, and ready for AI agents.
The winners will start to work on their projects on 1 September. They will be supported by the Business Control Committee (BCC). The people responsible for each idea project will report about their progress in TYPO3 News. If they succeed, they will be paid their allotted budget.
From the BCC’s point of view, all ideas would have been worth funding. Having a look at the voting results, we do see favorites, but the results in the main field are very close and a few more votes could have changed the overall results.
The results of the previous budgets are already published at news.typo3.com. In the following weeks results of all selected budgets will be published.
