TYPO3 Camp Africa
More and more citizens meet their government online, often on a mobile phone and a slow connection. Making these encounters secure, accessible, and useful takes more than a new website. It also takes a clear strategy and shared standards, so that agencies and countries can reuse what works instead of starting from scratch.
Open-source software gives governments control over their digital infrastructure: no recurring license fees, no dependence on a single vendor, and no need to send money abroad to keep public websites running. When a government standardizes its websites on a shared open-source platform, it also creates a predictable pipeline of work for the local IT sector, from migrations and new sites to training and accessibility audits. As TYPO3’s Government Website Standardization Handbook describes, the budget then circulates between the government and domestic companies, creating jobs and opportunities for young local talent.
The camp is for the people who make this happen: digital leaders in ministries and public institutions, and the developers and agencies who build for them. They often work in isolation, separated by role, institution, and border. For three days, they will learn from each other, share what works, and take home skills and contacts they can use.
The camp has 60 places for digital leaders and developers from across Africa. Book your ticket for TYPO3 Camp Africa and find travel and accommodation details on the event website.
