We Are Looking for Candidates for the Board and Business Control Committee

Are you a passionate member of the community? Do you have a vision for TYPO3's future? Whether you are a developer or a non-code contributor, TYPO3 needs dedicated people to help guide the project and serve the community.

Elected positions in the TYPO3 Association have a tenure of three years in the Board and two in the Business Control Committee (BCC). Each year, up to three positions are up for election in the Board and two in the BCC. Positions are available now, and you can nominate yourself. Nominations are open until Tuesday, 10 March 2026. The online elections for the Board and Business Control Committee (BCC) will take place in March 2025.

In 2026, three board members and two BCC members need to be elected.

Election Timeline

  • 13 March 2026: Start of the online voting
  • 27 March 2025 at 23:59 (CET): End of the online voting
  • 22 April 2026: General Assembly, which approves the result of the online voting

What Does the Board and BCC Need?

The candidates for the Board should have ties to the TYPO3 community and the ability to invest the required time. This includes attending various TYPO3 events to represent the Board. As a candidate, you should also have some strategic and business skills at your disposal.

For the BCC, the candidates should also have roots in the TYPO3 community and, as the BCC members will have to deal with a lot of numbers, financial skills.

For both the Board and the BCC, you must be fluent in English, as English is the sole lingua franca within those bodies.

Board or BCC — What is the Difference?

  • Board Members focus on strategy, decision-making, and the overall direction of the TYPO3 Association.
  • BCC Members oversee financial and legal matters, ensuring transparency and proper use of funds.

Who Can Get Elected?

Any member of the TYPO3 Association can nominate themselves. Please note that a personal membership is required.

What Skills Are Required?

If you’re considering a nomination for the Board or BCC, you’ll need a mix of these skills:

  • Leadership
  • Strategic thinking
  • Community engagement

These skills will also be helpful:

  • Conflict resolution: Handling and resolving disagreements diplomatically.
  • Fundraising and sponsorship: Helping secure financial support for TYPO3.
  • Networking and representation: Acting as a TYPO3 ambassador at events.
  • Multilingual abilities: Speaking multiple languages helps you engage with the global TYPO3 community.

What Will My Tasks Be?

The BCC members all share the same tasks. They manage budgets, including quarterly idea budgets, as well as the application and contracting processes. In addition, it monitors the TYPO3 Association's activities and finances to build confidence and trust in its processes and elected bodies.

How Much Time Is Expected?

Board members should expect to spend at least four hours per week, on average. You will attend bi-weekly remote meetings and quarterly two-day in-person summits. You will also have to dedicate time to your personal Board responsibilities and ongoing projects.

As a BCC member, you will attend monthly meetings with the Board and bi-weekly BCC meetings. You will also need time to work on your BCC responsibilities or projects.

Are Board and BCC Members Compensated?

  • Board members receive a monthly compensation of €500.
  • BCC members receive a monthly compensation of €200.

Some Board and BCC members choose not to be compensated.

Food, travel, and accommodation expenses are covered in accordance with the Reimbursement Regulations.

How do I Nominate Myself?

Please use the official nomination form to submit your nomination. You must state which body of the TYPO3 Association you want to nominate yourself for.

Should You Go for It?

If you are passionate about TYPO3, have relevant experience, and want to make a real impact, running for a nomination is a great choice. It does require time and effort, but the rewards — both personal and professional — can be significant.

Since TYPO3 is an international and diverse project, both committees should reflect this aspiration. We therefore encourage members from all over the world to stand for election in the 2026 elections.
