TYPO3 Joins the PHP Foundation as a Silver Sponsor

In June 2026, TYPO3 joined the PHP Foundation as a Silver Sponsor, supporting the long-term development of the language its CMS and ecosystem have relied on for more than two decades.
PHP powers TYPO3, its extension ecosystem, and the digital platforms built and maintained by agencies, contributors, and users worldwide. Supporting the PHP Foundation is therefore a direct investment in shared infrastructure the TYPO3 ecosystem depends on every day.
Supporting the Projects We Build On
Open-source projects rarely stand alone. They depend on programming languages, frameworks, libraries, contributors, and communities that need long-term support.
TYPO3 builds on PHP and established open-source technologies, including Symfony components. Supporting the PHP Foundation follows the same principle as TYPO3’s financial backing of Symfony 8.1 and our support for Mautic’s fundraising campaign: organizations that benefit from shared open-source infrastructure also have a role in sustaining it.
TYPO3 has also supported PHP-focused community initiatives, including PHPverse online events. These activities differ in scale and format, but they are connected by the same understanding: a healthy open-source ecosystem requires active participation from the projects and organizations that depend on it.
As a Silver Sponsor, TYPO3 contributes financially to the PHP Foundation’s work to support the continued development, maintenance, security, and stability of PHP.
Joining the PHP Foundation Advisory Board
The sponsorship also gives TYPO3 a seat on the PHP Foundation Advisory Board.
Frank Nägler, CTO of the TYPO3 Company, will represent TYPO3 on the board and contribute the perspective of a long-standing open-source project built on PHP.
“We're proud and grateful to support the PHP Foundation – because without PHP, there is no TYPO3. Its long-term health matters to our project, our community, and everyone building on top of TYPO3. By contributing as a Silver Sponsor, we are supporting the shared infrastructure we rely on every day.”
–Frank Nägler, CTO, TYPO3 Company
The Advisory Board creates an opportunity for closer exchange with the Foundation and other organizations across the PHP ecosystem. For TYPO3, this engagement is an important part of the sponsorship alongside the financial contribution.
A Shared Interest in the Future of PHP
TYPO3 is an open-source enterprise content management system, a verified Digital Public Good, and part of the Open Website Alliance through the TYPO3 Association.
These commitments are based on the same underlying principle: open digital infrastructure needs organizations that are prepared to contribute to its long-term development.
By supporting the PHP Foundation, TYPO3 is helping sustain the language its own ecosystem is built on and strengthening the exchange between the projects and organizations shaping its future.
