Hybrid Marketing Sprint for Version 14

From the sunny shores of Fuerteventura to the creative hub of Berlin, the latest TYPO3 Marketing Sprint took our collaboration to a new level. In a hybrid setup, two teams worked simultaneously to turn the strategic goals of TYPO3 v14 into tangible results and to inspire a new generation of TYPO3 enthusiasts.

While our previous Q4 sprint focused on defining the "Hero’s Journey" and the overarching strategy for the v14 launch, this session was all about execution. By splitting our efforts across two locations, we were able to bridge the gap between technical release preparation and community growth.

Fuerteventura: Fresh Energy for the Community

Under the leadership of Luisa Fassbender, the team in Fuerteventura focused entirely on the future of the community: attracting and mentoring young talent. This location served as an incubator for ideas on how to make the TYPO3 ecosystem more accessible and exciting for a younger demographic.

The team finalized a script for a new video format designed to showcase TYPO3's power in a modern, relatable way. To encourage playful experimentation with the upcoming TYPO3 v14, they developed concepts for "fun Extensions." These modules are designed to lower the entry barrier for new developers and prove that professional CMS work can also be fun.

"It was inspiring to see the energy young people bring to the project when given the space to shape their own ideas. I was even able to create my first Extension!" said Luisa Faßbender.

Berlin: Creating the Blueprint for the v14 Release

Parallel to the activities in the sun, the second half of the team gathered in Berlin at the offices of queo. A big thank you for the hospitality! Led by Myrna Gönnemann and Florian Froidevaux, and supported by experienced members Sven Pontow, André Richter, and Panos Semitekolos, this group focused on the materials for the launch.

Building on the communication concepts developed late last year, the Berlin team produced three slide decks tailored to our core audiences:

  • Technical Dive into top features (like Fluid 5 or language handling)
  • Marketing & Sales USPs to help agencies win new projects
  • Editors the new backend interface, and efficient content workflows

The release materials are now available to the entire community alongside the release of v14, providing everyone with the tools to promote and explain the new version effectively.

The Communication Roadmap to LTS

Beyond the immediate release assets, the team refined the communication roadmap for the upcoming LTS (Long Term Support) version. Over the next few months, we will be rolling out a steady stream of guides, campaigns, and insights to ensure the community is fully prepared for the LTS milestone.

Stronger Together

This hybrid sprint demonstrated that distance does not hinder productivity. Whether working under palm trees or in the heart of Berlin, the passion for TYPO3 remains our common denominator.

The materials developed during the sprint are already supporting the TYPO3 v14 communication and adoption.

With release assets now online and the roadmap toward LTS taking shape, this collaboration marks another important step for the TYPO3 ecosystem.
