Best Practices Remote Code Sprint: Children’s Day 2026

Karsten Nowak shares a report on the Best Practices Team's latest Remote Code Sprint, which turned out to be one of their most productive days yet.

Wow, what a brilliant sprint day! I don't know why, but at this month's Best Practices Remote Code Sprint, everything just went like clockwork.

Busy and Productive

As you can see from the photo, our most recent sprint fell on Monday, 1 June 2026 — Children's Day in Germany. The photo might be a little over the top, but I didn’t want it to be just another boring screenshot. After all, we’re a cheerful bunch and always have loads of fun together.

And this Monday was hectic! We could barely keep up with the reviews, let alone get around to our own tasks. Every few minutes, a new message popped up on Slack asking for a review, and we were constantly rebasing to the main branch. Not that easy with so many people. But it was great fun, and we got a huge amount done.

You can see the proof from our merged commits into the Tea example extension.

Faces New and Returning

We’ve now had more than just three people in the sprint on several occasions, which is wonderful to see. I’m especially glad that Anna and Hermann, who joined for the first time not long ago, are still with us. It seems they’re really enjoying themselves.

Join Us Next Time

And we haven’t had enough yet! We’re always delighted to welcome new participants to the Remote Code Sprint, so if this sounds like your kind of Monday, come and join us.

The team meets for a Remote Code Sprint on the first Monday of every month at 11:00 Europe/Berlin time, in the #best-practice-team channel on TYPO3 Slack. You'll find everything you need to get ready on our Regular Remote Day wiki page.

Why not pop in and have a look? We'd love to have you.
