SUMMARY:TYPO3 Best Practices Remote Sprint November
DESCRIPTION:You’re Invited: Join Our First Remote Sprint!\n\nThe Best Pract
ices team's inaugural remote sprint is happening on 27 November 2023. We'll
meet on Slack for a day of general housework and working through our backl
og. While we may not complete all our goals, this sprint is an excellent op
portunity to learn and collaborate. If you are a newcomer to TYPO3 developm
ent, come along to gain insights into teamwork, GitHub, bug resolution, and
automated testing.\n\nWhen\n\nThe sprint will take place on 27 November 20
 23. We’ll kick off at 11am (CET) and we plan to finish at 5pm (CET).\n\nWhe
re\n\nThe sprint is fully remote. We’ll meet in the TYPO3 Slack Channel, #b
est-practice-team. \n\nCome prepared with your favorite IDE, and make sure
you’re familiar with the TYPO3 Coding Guidelines.\n\nWhat\n\nDaniel Siepman
n will host the sprint. We’ll start with a quick check-in of participants,
make sure everyone is set for success, then we’ll distribute the tasks amon
g the attendees. If you’re a newcomer, there will be people to support you
and answer questions.\n\nWe plan to work on these topics in the following o
rder:\n\n Fix all bugs Cleanup Make the extension conform to the best pr
actices Set up functional tests for requests Implement changes related to
docs Set up acceptance tests Set up template for the CPS project builder
Compatibility with current main \n\nWe probably won't complete all the go
als, so the remaining tasks will be carried over to future work and sprints
.\n\nYour Benefits\n\nWhether you are an experienced TYPO3 developer, or ne
w to the CMS, there is always something to learn. Come along to this sprint
and get real-world experience working with focus inside a team on an open
published extension.\n\nParticipants of this sprint will learn-by-doing, in
particular:\n\n Using GitHub as a Git hosting and CI platform. How to ca
tch and fix bugs, covered by tests. Best practices for extension developme
nt. Fast end-to-end tests via TYPO3 testing framework functional tests. \n
\nCan’t Make It? Join a Future Sprint\n\nWe intend to hold more remote code
sprints in the future. The next sprint will probably focus on our task to
“Finish integration of runTest.sh”; as well as working on the remaining goa
ls not finished during the first sprint.\n\nFeel free to join our Slack cha
nnel via #best-practice-team and express your wish to join one of our sprin
ts. That way we can try to find a matching date where more people can join.
\n\nFind out more about the team on our team page, TYPO3 Best Practices Tea
m, and we hope to see you online at the sprint.
