In Memory of Jens Liesegang
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our esteemed colleague and companion Jens Liesegang.
Jens was much more than a legal advisor to the TYPO3 community—he was one of us. As a trained lawyer and computer scientist, he understood the interface between law and open-source technology like no other. His own website ran on TYPO3, of course, and for many years he provided his legal expertise to the TYPO3 Association pro bono.
Anyone who met Jens experienced a person of exceptional quality: always friendly in tone, yet clear and decisive in his work. This rare combination of warmth and intellectual acuity made him a conversation partner you never forget. In many a tricky situation involving open source licensing and legal issues, he guided us safely through unfamiliar territory with his experience and brilliant analytical thinking.
Jens's commitment made an important contribution to ensuring that open source projects such as TYPO3 have a solid legal foundation. We are deeply grateful to him for this.
We will miss his calm, determined manner—and the confidence you immediately felt when Jens took on a question.
